Match Washington County to the state and record type

Washington County, Oregon uses the Circuit Court for filed criminal case documents. Washington County, Pennsylvania uses the Clerk of Courts for its criminal Common Pleas files and the UJS Portal for docket information. Those are different jurisdictions. Confirm the state and court caption first; these examples do not cover every Washington County in the country.

A charging document, judgment or sentencing order belongs to the court file. An investigative report belongs to the law-enforcement agency that created it. Pennsylvania also expressly warns that online court-case information does not substitute for a criminal-history background check from the State Police. Name the product or document you need before choosing a search or paying a fee.

Oregon: locate the case and request its filed document

Follow the Circuit and Tax Record Search link on Oregon Judicial Department’s Records and Calendar Search page for free basic case information. Some protected case categories are excluded. If the service is unavailable or a document cannot be viewed, use Washington Circuit Court’s Case File Copies request route rather than treating a missing result as a statement that no case exists.

The court accepts copy requests online, in person or by mail. Include the full names involved, case number or filing year, specific documents or the entire file, ordinary versus certified copies, delivery choice and your contact details. The copy page links the online web form; naming the actual judgment or order makes a request more precise than asking for an unspecified background record.

In person, use the Public Records Review Room 110J, first floor of the Justice Services Building, 150 N. 1st Avenue, Hillsboro, OR 97124. For mail, address Washington County Circuit Court, Attention: Records Department, 150 N. 1st Avenue MS 37, Hillsboro, OR 97124; include the request and a self-addressed stamped envelope. Checks are payable to the State of Oregon. The court accepts not-to-exceed checks up to $30 when the exact amount is unknown.

Oregon copy charges and the certification format

Paper copies cost $0.25 per page. A regular-copy request adds $3 per case request; a paper certified copy adds $5, and an exemplified copy adds $10, plus the page charges. An existing electronic document emailed costs $3 per case request; emailing a microfilm document costs $0.45 per page. Mailing adds actual postage, and payment is due before the copy request is completed.

The court now lists electronic certified copies at $5 and electronic exemplified copies at $10. Confirm that the receiving agency accepts digital certification, and print the document in color if delivering a printed version. A paper certified copy bears the clerk’s certification, seal and signature; do not remove its staple. Choose the recipient’s required format instead of assuming that all certified copies are interchangeable.

Pennsylvania: use UJS for the criminal docket

From Washington County’s Criminal Division page, follow the Pennsylvania UJS Portal link. Its public docket tools cover criminal Common Pleas and magisterial district cases. The county Common Pleas Criminal Division handles cases after a probable-cause finding before a magisterial district judge. A different county portal or civil division is not evidence of the same criminal case coverage.

Use the docket number when known, otherwise narrow the name search to the correct county and court. Read the disposition associated with the particular charge and request the order if its exact language matters. If a party or their attorney needs to correct a web-docket data error, UJS directs them to submit its request form to the court where the case was filed.

Pennsylvania copies, searches and transcripts

Use the File Request Form linked on the Clerk of Courts page, or call 724-228-6787 to identify the file and copy format. The office’s contact listing gives 1 South Main Street, Suite 1005, Washington, PA 15301. Its linked fee bill, effective May 1, 2025, lists a record search at $11.50, copies at $0.30 per page, certification at $10 and exemplification at $25. Ask which charges apply to the particular request.

A transcript that has not yet been prepared uses the county’s Request for Transcript procedure, including a $50 deposit and service of the request on the required recipients. An already-filed transcript is a different purchase: the county lists $0.75 per page for paper and $0.50 per page electronically. Use the transcript instructions linked below for the complete filing and payment sequence.

For a file still held by a magisterial district court, ask that specific office directly. If a case or document is restricted, request the explanation and any available public portion; do not infer a conviction, dismissal or clean record from its absence. Match the defendant’s available identifiers before using a same-name docket as information about someone.

If you actually need an Oregon sheriff report

Washington County Sheriff’s Criminal Records Section handles crime-related investigative records. Submit its online public-record request or visit the section at 215 SW Adams Avenue, Hillsboro, OR 97123; the phone is 503-846-2524. The sheriff promises a response within five business days, which is not a promise to release every report in that time. Fees, ongoing investigations, juvenile protections and other restrictions can affect release.
